Contents of the tour


Introducing the history of the site; the panels, models and other exhibits in the exhibition area (Inspiring Gallery); and the Eco-pond and solar panel in the garden.

Except the two permanent model and panel on Climate Change, Greenhouse Effect and Causes and Consequences of Climate Change, the other exhibits are updated on a regular basis. The current exhibits are:

Climate Change Panel  
It explains the relationships between the carbon cycle, the greenhouse effect and global warming.  There are some movable parts on the panel for the visitors to play with and understand the consequences of such changes.
Climate Change Model
The model illustrates the consequences of and possible solutions to global climate change. Visitors can press buttons on the panel to light up or activate different parts of the model.
INSECT PANELS
The panels demonstrate the ecological properties and habits of insects; also introduce the common insect species found in Lung Fu Shan.
GLOBAL CLIMATE CHANGE
The panels discuss the causes and effects of Global Climate Change. The concept of “Carbon Footprint” and actions to reduce carbon footprint are also introduced.
Plants and Medical Herbs in Lung Fu Shan
The area of Lung Fu Shan is not big but a lot of species of plants grow in here. This panel introduces some special plants and medical herbs to the visitors.
Posters Display Stand
This book collects all the previous panels demonstrated in the centre, including “ Day and Night of Lung Fu Shan ”, “Birds in Lung Fu Shan”, etc. Visitors are welcome to review these past topics.
Heritage in the Vicinity
The centre is located in the slope behind the University of Hong Kong. Apart from the historical building in the university campus, there are other heritages in the vicinity of the centre. Visitors can learn more about the heritage through this panel.
Polar Treasure by Dr. LEE Lok-Sze
Samples collected from the polar area, the tools used in polar expedition and information about the polar area are included. 
The Weathering of Rocks of Hong Kong & The Geological Map of Hong Kong by Stephen Hui Geological Museum
Rock samples, information about the geology of Hong Kong and the weathering of rocks in Hong Kong are included.

 

Time

The Centre Guided Tour is available in the opening hours of the centre. The duration of the tour is about 45 minutes.

For groups, booking in advance is encouraged to facilitate the arrangement of the tour. General public are welcome to visit the centre in the opening hours.
